Nelson’s Kitchen Unleashes the Busting Box Combo So Big

Nelson’s Kitchen drops the Bussin Box XL, a massive combo meal so big it’s going viral. See what’s inside and where to get it!

Let me take you back to a Friday afternoon in Wichita. I’d just wrapped off a grueling work week, and all I wanted was something huge to eat, something that didn’t whisper “portion control,” but instead yelled, “Let’s get reckless!” A buddy texted me a picture that seemed like it came straight from a foodie’s dream: a burger, wings, fries, and a lot more were spilling out of what looked like a small shipping crate.

She answered, “It’s called the Bussin Box XL.” “From Nelson’s Kitchen.” People are making jokes about how enormous it is and how it needs a forklift.

I laughed at first. Then I looked. Then I placed my order.

And people, let me tell you, this isn’t food. It’s a moment.
In the spirit of a real foodie, I’m telling you Satan aboutdom. This blog isn’t simply a review; it’s a trip through flavor, family, and the newest, craziest food trend in Nelson’s kitchen.

If you’re taking a break between  remote BD jobs  or just need a serious flavor detour, this is the kind of indulgence that’ll reset your whole week.

Let’s get started.

The Backstory: Where Big Flavor and Big Dreams Meet

Nelson’s Kitchen is not your typical restaurant.  This locally-owned gem is hidden away in east Wichita and has been serving strong comfort food for years, winning over locals with its soulful tastes and no-nonsense quantities.  They have a lot of food, and the wings come with their famous Valerie’s Sweet Heat sauce, which is so wonderful that I’ve thought about putting it in a bottle for emergencies.

But when they moved to their current home at 1712 E. Morris Street in 2024, Nelson’s Kitchen evidently intended to do more than just serve food, they wanted to get attention.

The Bussin Box XL is here.

This unique combo, which was created by owner Shea Nelson and her crew, is more than simply a meal, it’s a whole experience.  Staff say the idea came about when a customer quipped about needing “a plate big enough to carry every favorite on the menu.”  I accept the challenge.

And just like that, the Bussin Box was born, and rapidly became a local legend.

A Foodie’s Dream: What’s Inside the Bussin Box XL

Okay, let’s get to the good stuff.  When you order the Bussin Box XL, you get:

6 Wings, You can choose the sauce, but let’s be honest: go with Valerie’s Sweet Heat.

The wings are wonderfully crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and they have a lot of sauce on them.  The sweet glaze sticks to your skin like BBQ magic, and the heat is just right to make your taste senses dance.

Double-Stack Smashburger

Imagine two smashed patties with cheese, pickles, grilled onions, and a little bit of house sauce on top, all inside a toasted brioche bun.  This burger has the energy of a main character.

Cajun fries with queso on top

These fries are not like the ones you usually get.  We’re talking perfectly seasoned and swimming in spicy, gooey queso.  I would eat these by myself and still think they were a terrific supper.

Onion Rings on Top of Each Other

Golden, light, and crunchy.  They are tall enough to break the building regulations.  And somehow they stay crispy even after you’ve been eating them for 20 minutes.

Fried catfish or shrimp (optional upgrade)

Why stop at land when you can add some surf?  I chose the shrimp.  No regrets.  They were crunchy, delicious, and gone in a minute.

Dessert of the Day: Mini

After the food marathon, you get a sweet finish, whether it’s a small cupcake, brownie, or cookie.   It adds a nice touch that makes the whole meal feel complete.

Two drinks or a lemonade the size of a share

Because you need to stay hydrated when you eat this much.

The “Forklift” Factor: It’s Not Just Hype

Okay, so you don’t really need a forklift, but that’s how it feels when they give you the box.  I swear, it weighs almost seven pounds.  I held it like a baby while I walked to my car.

The Bussin Box’s enormity isn’t simply for show; it’s on purpose.  It was made to be shared.  Or not.  (We won’t judge you.)

And what about the presentation?  Perfect.  Everything is set out like a fantasy board for food trucks.  It has crispy textures, bright colors, and that unmistakable smell of smoke and pepper. It’s an Instagram dream.

I posted a picture of my box on TikTok, and the video gained 12,000 views in one night.  People said things like “I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE” and “Bro… that’s not dinner, that’s a life decision.”

Yes.

The Bussin Box XL took over Wichita (and social media).

What started as a new item on the menu rapidly turned into a viral event.  Here’s why:

Design That People Want to Share

It looks like every Business Box was made for TikTok.  They don’t just consume it; they take it out of the box.  People have gathered around the table like it’s a holiday roast, including families, couples, and coworkers.

#BussinBoxChallenge

People in the area began recording videos of themselves attempting to finish the box in one sitting.  A few made it.  Some gave up.  They all looked like they were going to burst with happiness.  The challenge got so big that Nelson’s Kitchen leaned into it and started giving tiny shout-outs to those who tagged them in videos.

Local Love and Word of Mouth

Nelson’s Kitchen has built more than just a customer base in Wichita, where community still matters, they’ve built a fan base.  People come when something new comes out.  And what about the Bussin Box XL?  People came out.

Who Should Give the Business Box a Try (Hint: Everyone)

Here’s the thing about the Bussin Box, it doesn’t discriminate. Whether you’re:

  • A foodie filming your next viral TikTok
  • A college student trying to feed three roommates
  • A family looking for a Friday-night splurge
  • Or just someone who needs a big, bold, unapologetic meal

this box is built for you.

It’s fun, it’s flavorful, and it’s made with heart. You don’t just taste the seasoning, you feel the love that went into it.

Personal Reflection: The Meal That Made Me Feel Magical Again

I’ve eaten a lot of food throughout my life.  Don’t criticize me; I write about this things for a living.  But every now and then, a meal reminds you that food is more than just what you eat.

The Bussin Box was that reminder for me.

It wasn’t just the portion size or the flavor, though those were great.   It felt like sitting at a table with friends, laughing, passing around fries and wings, arguing over who got the last shrimp, and agreeing to “split” dessert even though we both wanted the whole thing.

It seemed like more than just dinner.  It seemed like a community.

That’s really what Nelson’s Kitchen is all about.
